Rêve Insolite (Unusual Dream) Artwork & Poem Book
This is artwork #43 in the series Letters to a Friend, a body of work I started in 2017 in response to my best friend passing away from cancer. letterstoafriend.com
This a very unique accordion style book which consists of artwork created on 8 panels. Reverse side is 6 golden panels with a poem handwritten in French which I created as a (letter to my friend) reaction to the 2020, Covid19 experience we are all going through. Written in French, with translation the poem reads...
seulement dans les rêves
nous sommes ensemble
(only in dreams
we are together)
te souviens tu
(do you remember)
(how to touch)
comment nous touchons
(how we touch)
(how to hold)
Eight panel artwork created using watercolor, ink, acrylic, tumeric, elderberry.
Text inscribed with Japanese drawing ink.
Cover made by hand from an early 19th century Japanese sakabukuro bag, kakishibu dyed, PVA adhesive.
Book comes with an inserted translation handwritten in ink. Artwork is signed on final page of poem.
The book can lay on it's own and be read in unique ways, or simply displayed on the mantel, opened on chosen side. You may see photos as reference.
